Welcome! You have found the online home of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women, based in Johannesburg South Africa.
If you are looking to find out more about the cultural affairs of the Greek Community in South Africa, then you are in the perfect place.
WHY WE EXIST
The Johannesburg Lyceum Club of Greek Women was established in 1987 by a group of twenty founder members and promotes the concept of dual heritage – the South Africa and Greek identity.
The Pouroulion, at Saheti in Senderwood, has housed the headquarters of the Lyceum Club since 2012. This was made possible by the generous donation of our great benefactor, the late Mrs Artemis Pouroulis.
ANNUAL EVENTS
The ever-popular VASILOPITA function is held each year in January. Something which started as a small get-together tea, has now become an event which is booked up ahead of time. The Excellence Awards Ceremony, honouring successful Greek women, is part of the occasion.
PALM SUNDAY FISH LUNCH is looked forward to each year. The dedicated team of women who organise this event provide participants with a sumptuous buffet.
The successful GOLF DAY FUNDRAISER is held in June in order to raise finances to distribute to the Lyceum’s official charities.
The glamorous SPRING TEA welcomes the change in seasons in October and all attendees celebrate in style.
The ANNUAL BRIDGE DRIVE takes place in November and is attended by members of the Community around Gauteng.
